Sen. Kay Hagan has forwarded three names to the White House as potential judicial nominations for the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.Hagan would not disclose the names this morning in a conference call with reporters, because she hasn't told the other candidates that they weren't among the recommendations, Barb Barrett reports.President Barack Obama will make official nominations to the Senate.Hagan, a freshman Democrat, said she is committed to seeing two of the four open seats on court go to North Carolinians.

Lopez sent a one-out grounder up the middle off Jorge López (1-1) through a drawn-in infield to score automatic runner Christian Bethancourt from third base, and the last-place Marlins (15-32) stretched their winning streak to a season-best four games.

One dead after car crashes into light pole in Cooper City

One person died after a vehicle struck a light pole in Cooper City late Saturday morning, officials say. The car struck a light pole in the 11800 block of Griffin Road a little after 11 a.m., according to Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane. One person died at the scene, and no one else was transported. Two cars appeared to be severely damaged at the scene Saturday afternoon while Broward Sheriff’s deputies investigated. It is unclear what caused the crash and what happened to the other car and its occupants.
