Print  The state of Washington has triggered a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Energy in a long running dispute over long delays in cleaning up highly radioactive waste on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in eastern Washington. It’s part of a legal strategy aimed at holding Energy to deadlines, particularly getting radioactive sludge out of leaking, World War II-vintage waste tanks, and getting a behind schedule Waste Treatment Plant completed and in operation.
