In 1945, while the world was recovering from its second great war, students in a Chester High School German class were gaining unexpected insight into the horrors of the Holocaust from a survivor of one of the Nazi death camps.They were the students of Gertrude Weaver, a 1938 Swarthmore College graduate and a Quaker whose humanitarian effort evolved into both a German language lesson and an intense tutorial about the harsh realities of war.
