Harriman Laying Water Pipeline To Fix Alpha Levels

HARRIMAN -- Village officials plan to lay 2,100 feet of pipe to dilute water in a municipal well that was found to have an elevated level of alpha particles, a naturally occurring radioactive material.Mayor Stephen Welle said Monday that the village and its consultants are developing plans for the project, which could cost around $200,000 and take a few weeks to complete once the construction begins.
