Hawaii Receives Grant To Study False Killer Whales

HILO, Hawaii (AP) — Researchers in Hawaii have received nearly $1.2 million in federal grant funding to study the elusive false killer whale. The Department of Land and Natural Resources, in partnership with Hawaii Pacific University and the Olympia, Washington-based Cascadia Research Collective announced the 3-year grant last week. Other endangered cetacean species like sperm whales and humpback whales pass through Hawaiian waters but do not live in the area.
