Hcc Hires Criminal Law Firm After Complaint

Facing a criminal complaint and questions over multimillion-dollar land deals, the Houston Community College board voted Friday to hire criminal defense firm Nugent & Peterson. Earlier this month, it settled an expensive and lengthy court fight with its former acting chancellor, Renee Byas, who said she had been talking to FBI investigators about the college's use of bond money and its recent land deals.
