Five people were injured Friday afternoon when two cars crashed head-on in Wells, police said. Sgt. Adam Shaw said none of the injuries appeared to be serious and some of the people were taken to local hospitals mainly as a precaution. Shaw said the two cars collided on Route 1. He said the crash was primarily in the southbound lane and police are still trying to figure out what led to the collision, but no charges are expected to be filed. The crash backed up traffic because it occurred at the beginning of the holiday weekend, Shaw said, but the tie-up had eased by rush hour.
