The second annual Huntley Hootenanny Glow 5K is estimated to have netted over $30,000 for Huntley School District 158’s Education Foundation, according to D-158 spokesman Dan Armstrong. Last year, about 1,800 people attended the inaugural event – more than four times the number of people that was expected. Participants helped to raise about $18,000 for the district’s education, which went toward student scholarships and classroom grant initiatives. This year, registration was capped at 2,500 participants and Armstrong said the event was “full up.” Although the exact amount raised is yet to be finalized, Armstrong said more than $30,000 was collected this year. “It was very, very successful,” Armstrong said. The race began at the intersection of Church and Coral streets.
