NORTH SMITHFIELD — Firefighters rescued a horse late Saturday morning after the animal splashed into a swamp and then mired itself in deep mud, authorities said.Three horses escaped their enclosure at Phoenix Rising farm on Pound Hill Road around 11 a.m. after they were spooked by something, said Fire Chief David Chartier.While two of the horses were rounded up, a third ran into a swamp on the property.
