How a long-lost manuscript changed one writer’s life

One day in February 1944, when Mimi Baird was just shy of 6, her father went to the country club and didn’t come back. A respected dermatologist, Perry Baird struggled with bipolar disease, and on that day, while having lunch with friends, he was in a manic state, so much so that the police were alerted, and Perry Baird was taken to a state mental hospital.
