A special use request to operate a new driving school within a multitenant building at 10395 Vine St. will go before the Huntley Village Board with a positive recommendation from the Plan Commission. The proposal was recommended, 5-0, during the commission's meeting Monday. Commissioners Robert Chandler and Ron Hahn were absent. Several commissioners in attendance mused about how difficult it is to get their teenage children into Huntley High School's driver's education program, and they expressed feelings that there is a need for a new school. "I think you're going to find more people going forward than you're going to realize because it's so difficult to get into a Huntley High School class," Commissioner Dawn Ellison said to driving instructor Joseph Carnana. Carnana, who has run classes in Lake in the Hills and Algonquin, said Huntley has never had a driver's education course outside of the high school.
