Rome's mayor has made a step on the right side of history by publicly defying the country's ban on same-sex marriage. Ignazio Marino ignored the Italian ban on same-sex marriage when he registered 16 couples over the weekend whose marriages were recognized abroad. Earlier this month Interior Minister Angelino Alfano released a statement informing legislators that any registration of foreign marriages between same-sex couples would be "voided."
