Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has recommended that President Trump ease restrictions in Maine’s Katahdin Woods and Waters to allow “active timber management,” according to a copy of Zinke’s report on his review of 27 national monuments. Zinke also has recommended an easing of fishing restrictions in three marine monuments, including one off the New England coast, Northeast Canyons and Seamounts. In all, Zinke suggested that Trump modify 10 national monuments created by his immediate predecessors, including shrinking the boundaries of at least four western sites, according to a copy of the report obtained by The Washington Post.
