At least 20 local companies are supporting the Cecil Shorts III Backpack Challenge, the United Way of Northeast Florida’s 2014 school supply drive led by the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receiver. Through Aug. 13, customers of Publix stores in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties may donate $5, $7 or $10 to purchase school supplies for area students, according to a news release from the United Way. read more
