The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders used a handful of pitchers to open their road trip Monday night. It seemed none of them could control Norfolk’s Mike Yastrzemski. Yastrzemski tripled, doubled and scored all three Norfolk runs and Pedro Alvarez drove home two of them as the Tides topped the RailRiders, 3-2. The RailRiders had plenty to chances to pull ahead, but stranded 12 runners on base in the loss. Instead, they had to settle for Jake Cave’s solo home run that tied the game 2-2 in the fifth inning. And Norfolk responded in the bottom of the frame, when Alvarez singled home Yastrzemski with what proved to be the winning run. The RailRiders, who never had a lead in the game, fell behind quickly when Drew Dosch’s drilled an RBI double off RailRiders starter Domingo German. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tied it in the third when three straight men reached with two outs, capped off by Billy McKinney’s run-scoring single off Norfolk starter Alec Asher (2-1).
