The Detroit Tigers always considered Joel Hanrahan a lottery ticket when they re-signed him in the offseason, in the hopes they could get more out of him than they had in the previous year's failed trial.That lottery ticket won't cash in: Hanrahan will need a second Tommy John surgery, a trip to an elbow specialist revealed, and the Tigers have subsequently given him his unconditional release.
