A man accused of beating a dog with a garbage can lid will have his case heard before the same judge who handled his divorce, despite efforts to have the case moved to a different courtroom. McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather on Thursday denied former McHenry man Michael Braun's requests to have another judge preside over his case. Judge Robert Wilbrandt has presided over Braun's misdemeanor cruelty to animals charge since it was filed in McHenry County court in April 2017. Braun filed a motion last month seeking to have the case moved to another judge's courtroom, claiming he wouldn't be treated fairly by Wilbrandt. “I believe judge Wildbrandt [sic] may harbor negative feelings for me from when he was the judge in my divorce over 10 years ago," Braun wrote.
