Whether it’s a cancelled Kanye show, an undersold Jay-Z concert or a tour that simply doesn’t route through the city, Denver is notorious for missing big rap shows. Take Kendrick Lamar, today’s current undisputed M.C. champion, for example. Though he’s hit stages in Winter Park and Greenwood Village, the Compton rapper has performed in Denver proper just once in the last five years, a 2012 gig at the Ogden Theatre. This summer, the drought is over: Lamar’s latest tour, which the rapper announced via Twitter this morning, is scheduled to hit Denver’s Pepsi Center on July 29 according to Rolling Stone.
