The Department of Environmental Conservation said it is "aggressively working to determine the cause of high coliform bacteria levels" the day after the latest closure caused by bacteria in the water. After the department's staff conducted an investigation and observed an unusually high number of geese, ducks and seagulls in the area, it announced the beaches were closed indefinitely.
