Land Swap Could Change City Trail, Clear Way For Colorado Springs Highway Project

By STEPHEN HOBBS stephen.hobbs@gazette.com -A proposed land exchange near downtown Colorado Springs will help clear the way for a major highway project and change the alignment of a city trail. The land swap, between the Colorado Department of Transportation and Colorado Springs, would change the Midland Trail as part of the upcoming Interstate 25 and Cimarron Street interchange project.CDOT would close the section of the park trail and tunnel that runs under I-25 and build a new trail connection to the north bank of Fountain Creek, if approved.
