Legislative Committee Votes To Abolish Death Penalty

A bill to abolish the death penalty won approval from the legislature's judiciary committee Tuesday night — with proponents saying that Connecticut's capital punishment law is unworkable and too costly to taxpayers, that new DNA testing has exonerated convicted death-row inmates across the country and that when the state kills someone it dehumanizes society.
