San Francisco native Lena Hall, who won a Tony Award in 2014 for her performance of Yitzhak in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” will reprise the part for the San Francisco leg of the show’s national tour, producer SHN announced on Tuesday. Additionally, for select performances in the Oct. 2-30 run, Hall will play the role of Hedwig, along with Yitzhak — a clever comment on the glam rock musical’s themes of identity and gender fluidity. Written by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, the musical is told as the cabaret act of a glam rocker who’s had a botched sex change operation — hence the “angry inch.”
