A levee failed on the San Joaquin River tonight, prompting officials to issue an evacuation order for a large rural area southwest of Manteca.The levee breached on the east side of the San Joaquin west of Perrin Road, according to the National Weather Service.The evacuation area was south of Woodward Avenue, west of Union Road, north of Mortensen Road and east of the river.
