The Baker-Barry Tunnel, which provides the easiest route for cars and cyclists coming off the Golden Gate Bridge, should reopen in early June, according to Golden Gate National Recreation Area spokeswoman Jenny Anzelmo-Sarles. Meantime, the park has rerouted all traffic to Conzelman Road and closed parking areas and pullouts east of McCullough traffic circle, forcing Golden Gate Bridge photo takers to seek other vantage points. For safer traffic flow, the Federal Highway Administration also will provide flaggers on weekends and Memorial Day until the tunnel reopens. The tunnel was originally scheduled to open by the end of May, but the FHA’s installation of new utility lines is taking longer than projected, according to park officials.
