WINDHAM — The Windham Fire Department is fighting a garage fire in North Windham.
A dispatcher for the fire department said crews were sent to 265 Tanberg Road, which is also known as Route 115. The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m.
The garage is not attached to the home, which is about 10 feet away.
Severe weather including hail and lightning is moving into southern Maine and the Portland region, according to the National Weather Service office in Gray.
Meteorologist Stacie Hanes said her office has already received reports of golf-ball-sized hail falling in parts of York County. There have also been reports of lightning, strong winds, and torrential rains.
Those storms are currently moving into the Portland area from the west, Hanes said.
AUGUSTA –– Maine concluded the fiscal year with $59.1 million surplus, which the state’s finance chief attributed to an improving economy and conservative budgeting.
Richard Rosen, the commissioner of the Department of Financial and Administrative Services, said the unappropriated surplus will help increase the state’s budget stabilization fund, also known as the rainy day fund, to $111.1 million.
