HAZEL DELL — For Ralph Laedtke and Paul Johnson, Dec. 7 eventually became a day for reflection and remembering the fallen. But 75 years ago, Dec. 7, 1941, was all about reaction and returning fire. The two local Pearl Harbor survivors each took a moment to look back on that day during Wednesday morning’s observance of the 75th anniversary of the attack that pushed the United States into World War II. Johnson, 98, was a crewman on the USS Castor, a transport ship that had just delivered 10,000 tons of ammunition to the American military base.
