Lyft Resolves Obstacles To New York Service

RIDE SERVICESLyft resolves N.Y. obstaclesThe on-demand ride-sharing app Lyft planned to start limited service in New York City Friday night after reaching agreement with officials to resolve regulatory issues that prompted a lawsuit by the state. Lyft's plan to bring its pink-mustachioed car service to the New York City market was then halted after the state officials sued, claiming that the San Francisco company operates as a traditional livery service, not a peer-to-peer transportation platform. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Department of Financial Services Superintendent Ben Lawsky said in a joint statement that they will continue to work with Lyft "so that any future business it undertakes meets that standard and protects consumer safety." BSkyB said Friday it will buy Sky Italia and 57 percent of Sky Deutschland for $9.1 billion from media giant 21st Century Fox. Besides being chairman and CEO of 21st Century Fox, Murdoch is also BSkyB's largest shareholder with a stake of just over 39 percent.
