A Maine forest ranger was seriously injured Saturday night after an accident in Down East Maine, according to the Maine fire marshal’s office. Ranger Dustin Pickering reportedly jumped off a boat into a lake in Topsfield when his head struck a rock, according to the fire marshal’s office. Pickering suffered several broken vertebrae as a result of that jump, the fire marshal’s office said. Pickering was flown to a hospital in Boston due to the extent of his injuries and is currently in serious condition. The fire marshal’s office is asking the people of Maine to pray for Pickering along with his wife and three young children.
