In the week since same-sex marriage became the law of the land, more than half of the justices of the peace in the three-county region have stopped performing weddings altogether. Of the 17 JPs spread across Jefferson, Hardin and Orange counties, nine have confirmed they will no longer officiate weddings that weren't already on their books. Dunn said even if he's not comfortable with same-sex marriage, it's not his place to pass judgment. Hardin County originally decided on Monday not to issue same-sex licenses, but County Clerk Glenda Alston reversed her decision Wednesday after meeting with legal counsel.
