Man Who Flung Tainted Meat To Pay $80k

A 77-year-old man who tossed ricin-laced sausages at his Northeast Portland neighbor’s dogs has agreed to pay $80,000 to settle a lawsuit. Michael Joseph Lynch was poised to defend himself against a $400,000 civil suit last week in Multnomah County Circuit Court but instead decided to pay the $80,000 to neighbor Richard Schmidtke. Schmidtke’s spaniels, Snowflake and Bandit, ate or chewed on some of the meat and nearly died in July 2016.
