A Portland man who had been missing for more than two months and whose body was found this week off Congress Street near the Fore River died from blunt force trauma consistent with being struck by a vehicle, an autopsy revealed. Portland police said Thursday that evidence suggests Edward Blumenthal, 57, was walking east, or inbound, on Congress Street when he was struck by a large vehicle, possibly a truck, traveling in the same direction. No accident was ever reported and police are investigating it as a hit-and-run. Blumenthal, who lived in Portland his entire life, was last seen alive on Sept.
