'Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present': review There is still a website called Marina Abramovic Made Me Cry, consisting of photographic portraits of people so moved. The Artist Is Present documents this remarkable achievement and the preparations that led up to it, and serves as a thoughtful introduction to the career of the woman who has called herself the grandmother of performance art. Akers shows her bringing apprentices into her Hudson Valley home for training (these are the young artists who re-created some of her earlier works for the MoMA show). There are no dissenting views here (except for a brief Fox News clip, included as a poke at her conservative critics).
