Mariners’ many two-run blasts beat A’s at Coliseum The Mariners got four two-run homers. Chavez entered the day allowing the fourth fewest homers per nine innings in the league (.50), but he gave up shots to Logan Morrison on the third and former A’s outfielder Seth Smith in the sixth. Evan Scribner also got into the act, giving up a two-run shot to Nelson Cruz, and, cardinal sin, on an 0-2 pitch in the eighth. Seattle’s next run scored on an error by first baseman Stephen Vogt, before Scribner allowed yet another two-run blast, this one by Brad Miller. Brett Lawrie reached on a one-out grounder off first baseman Morrison’s glove, and Josh Reddick followed with a spinning chopper that shortstop Miller couldn’t come up with. Canha added a two-run double down the left-field line with one out in the ninth.
