MARION — The Marion Independent school board this week certified a $38.6 million budget for 2015-2016 that keeps the district’s property tax rate essentially the same as this year.Property tax rate was set at $18.42 per $1,000 of taxable valuation, up half a cent from this year. Action was taken following a public hearing at which no public comments were entered.The budget includes $553,091 to recover special education costs exceeding revenues and $466,084 in additional revenue to offset increased enrollment.Marion business manager John Donner told board members the budget was based on a 2 percent increase in new money.
