Derek Jeter’s the man in Miami, a wise choice by baseball to run the dysfunctional Marlins, and so far he’s hitting .500. The Jeter ownership group wants to dump a couple of remnants from ruinous Jeffrey Loria’s ownership, part of severing ties with the group that bamboozled and alienated the community and fan base. The new group, which hopes to take over before season’s end, doesn’t want David Samson, the team president and Loria’s stepson, so Samson’s gone.
