The Mavericks announced on Friday they requested waivers to release forward Kostas Antetokounmpo.Antetokounmpo, a younger brother of reigning NBA MVP Giannis, signed with the Mavericks on a two-way contract last offseason. He was the No. 60 pick in the 2018 draft, and Dallas acquired his draft rights from the 76ers.During his rookie season, Antetokounmpo appeared in two games in late March with the Mavericks and scored two points.The 6-10, 200-pound Dayton product started 25 of his 40 games with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks' G-League affiliate, and averaged 10.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 25.4 minutes a game."We are excited for Kostas to pursue other professional opportunities," Mavericks president and general manager Donnie Nelson said.
