McHenry County Board member Mike Skala acknowledged Thursday that he did not file an economic statement that was one of the subjects of an Ethics Commission complaint filed by a Cary resident. Under county ordinances, elected public officials must filed an addendum to the their Illinois Statement of Economic Interests – which is filed annually with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office – with the McHenry County clerk. One such reporting requirement for the statement of economic interests is the identity of any capital asset from which a capital gain of $5,000 or more was achieved in the past calendar year, according to state statute.
