Mcso: Teen Dies From Gunshot

A 14-year-old boy was killed late Wednesday by a 17-year-old who said he accidentally fired a 9mm handgun while playing around. Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 7600 block of SE 121st Place in Belleview at about 8:30 p.m., reports state. Once detectives arrived at the home, they spoke with the older teen, who stated that he and the victim were just “playing around” when the victim pointed a .20 gauge shotgun at him. The report states that that 17-year-old then picked up a 9mm handgun, pointed it at the victim and accidentally fired the gun. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The 17-year-old was arrested and taken to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility.
