CITY OF NEWBURGH – State officials will update Newburgh residents on the progress of the city’s new water filtration system and answer questions about the contamination that closed the city’s main drinking water supply during a public meeting on Feb. 5.Representatives from the Department of Environmental Conservation and Department of Health will lead the 6 p.m.

Deputies arrest driver after bicyclist killed in Pompano Beach

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives on Sunday arrested a driver accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist before fleeing deputies in Pompano Beach. Eric Gray, the bicyclist, was pronounced dead at the scene by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics. The Sheriff’s Office withheld further information about him, citing Marsy’s Law. Kenroy Jackson Jr., 22, of Hollywood, is accused of driving the 2017 Mercedes C300 coupe that hit Gray and was booked into the county’s main jail.

MIAMI — Nick Senzel homered twice and drove in five runs as the Washington Nationals erased an early seven-run deficit to beat the reeling Miami Marlins 12-9 on Sunday. Trey Lipscomb and Jacob Young had three hits while Alex Call reached base five times on two singles, two walks and a hit by pitch for the Nationals. “I was able to put two good swings on the ball today and it helped us fight back for the win,” Senzel said.
