Mentor Addresses Deer Field Dressing After Driveway Incident

You can still field dress a deer in the city of Mentor. You just can't do so in your yard anymore.A Sept. 22 incident involving a deer struck by a car inspired city leaders to ensure that is the case from now on.City Council this week approved an amendment to its "Animals and Fowl" ordinance, which says,"No person shall slaughter or butcher any animal unless the activity is conducted in an enclosed structure and is shielded from view by the general public except an establishment issued a license for such purposes …"Violators will be guilty of a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
