ROCKFORD — A Rockford pig farm is proposing the installation of two new swine finishing barns. KFS Farms, at 1630 state Route 707 in Rockford, has submitted a draft permit to install and draft permit to operate to the Ohio Department of Agriculture and is waiting on public comments to proceed. The Mercer County farm has two facilities, one also at 1859 Tama Road in Rockford, and is wishing to consolidate them under the same permit to operate, thus unifying their manure management plans. Both locations have an existing swine finishing barn, capacity 1,920 swine, with a concrete pit below it for 827,616 gallons of manure storage, or 642 days’ worth, according to a release from the ODA.
