Local reclaims longest club recordMike Furrh of Arlington reclaimed the Guinness World Record for swinging the world's longest usable club on Monday at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Willow Park.Furrh and Mike Rausch of Fort Worth successfully hit a golf ball 145 feet with a 49.3-foot driver on the driving range.The distance was 65 feet longer that what was required for the record.Furrh broke the record of 37-feet, 1-inch by Anthony Anderson of the sitcom Blackish set in 2018.Guinness will evaluate the event and could restore Furrh as the record holder in two months.Furrh and Rausch attempted to hit a ball with a 61-foot driver but the driver broke mid-swing.Regional Mid-Am this weekendThe Texas Golf Association's North Regional Mid-Amateur Championships is scheduled for Friday-Sunday at Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth.The tournament is open to male amateurs 25 and older who belong to a TGA member club and have a GHIN Handicap Index of 8.4 or less.The field of 84 plays 54 holes of individual stroke play.
