SPARROWBUSH — A mother and son nearly drowned in the swiftly flowing Delaware River Wednesday evening as they attempted to swim from the New York side to the Pennsylvania shore.According to Sparrowbush Engine Company Chief Carl Van Horn, the near-drowning happened as the son ran into trouble while swimming and went under. His mother was pulled under as she tried to help him.
