Last year, the Bartow resident logged more than 3,800 miles on her well-worn Saturn, visiting nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult family care homes. As a volunteer ombudsman, her job is to gauge the welfare of seniors at or near the end stages of life, a time of great vulnerability.
