MSU project helps urban garden grow in Detroit DETROIT (AP) — Michigan State University students are spending time in Detroit's Brightmoor neighborhood working on an urban garden project. The Detroit Free Press reports ( http://on.freep.com/16Y7uGb ) that seniors Annie Melcher and Derell Griffin were among about 40 students in the neighborhood last weekend completing a water-catchment system. The system provides a cost-effective and sustainable way of watering the garden, where young residents learn to produce vegetables.
