Eight years after a neighbor protested the Katy Islamic Center's purchase of land near George Bush Park by hosting pig races, a spectacle that drew international attention, the Muslim organization expected record attendance at an annual community outreach event. More than 100 people, including groups from eight Katy-area Christian churches and Mormon stakes, were slated to join the worship center Sunday night for iftar, a traditional meal at sunset ends the day-long fasts on the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
