JOHNSON By William Moore Daily Journal TUPELO – Trash talking cost a 22-year-old Tupelo man his life Monday evening. A verbal altercation outside the Barley Courts Apartments in south Tupelo escalated into gunfire around 8:15 p.m. Feb. 8. According to the Tupelo police, Xzavious Johnson, 27, of 780 County Road 54 (which runs along the Lee-Chickasaw county line south of Shannon) shot and killed Travante Young during an argument in the parking lot. “The case is still under investigation but the two men had a verbal altercation outside of Building 6,” said Tupelo detective Paul Hendrix.
