The Library of Congress announced that it will preserve the retired Dodgers announcer’s call of a 1957 game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds, the final time they played at the hallowed old stadium. The Library of Congress called it “a masterful example of the artistry that great sports announcers bring to their work, as well as their empathy for players and fans.” The Real Madrid striker now has an international airport named after him — and it is adorned with a odd-looking bronze bust. Dozens of guests and hundreds of fans joined him in his native Madeira Islands for an official ceremony outside the terminal entrance renaming the local airport as Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo.
