SYCAMORE – The $36 million expansion of the DeKalb County Jail is about 80 percent complete and expected to be finished Jan. 23, DeKalb County Administrator Gary Hanson said. The jail will feature new cells, isolation rooms, a kitchen and medical facilities. More importantly, the expansion will increase the jail’s capacity to 153, solving a decade-old overcrowding problem. “We needed this renovation 10 years ago,” Chief of Corrections Joyce Klein said.
