(MUMBAI, India) — India’s new central bank chief kicked off his first day in office Wednesday by announcing short-term measures to boost confidence as the troubled Indian economy slows and the currency tumbles. Under pressure amid fears of an economic crisis, Raghuram Rajan acknowledged he is taking over the Reserve Bank of India at a tough time.
